Barbara Groba brings a wealth of musical expertise and a passion for active learning to her role as the Music/Band Teacher at Holy Family Catholic School. She holds a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Music Education from Seton Hill University, along with a Pennsylvania Instructional II Certificate in Music (K-12) and Orff-Schulwerk Certification, Levels 1 & 2. With a career spanning over two decades, Mrs. Groba has been dedicated to teaching music in the Diocese of Pittsburgh since 2001, joining the faculty at Holy Family in 2022. She also shares her talents at St. Therese School in Munhall, teaching music and band.
In Mrs. Groba's classroom, music is not just listened to but experienced actively by students. Using a variety of instruments including drums, xylophones, recorders, and their own singing voices, students engage in hands-on learning to grasp the fundamentals of music. Mrs. Groba incorporates children's literature, movement, and games to reinforce and practice musical concepts, creating a dynamic and immersive learning environment.
Outside of her teaching duties, Mrs. Groba's upbringing in the small town of St. Marys, PA, and her lifelong attendance at Catholic schools have deeply influenced her. In her free time, she enjoys indulging in her love for reading, playing instruments, and planning future travels, which complement her passion for exploring new places and cultures.
