Overview: 

Holy Family's Preschool Program is hosted at two campuses: one in Oakmont, and one in Plum.  We offer a variety of half-day and whole-day programs ranging from two (2) to five (5) days a week.

Our program offers the children an enriching start to their educational years.  Our highly experienced, nurturing teachers strive to provide each child with a strong, positive early educational foundation that integrates a wide variety of hands-on and project-based learning, activities, games, songs, and other pedagogical strategies to address different learning styles and promote:

• cognitive and social excellence
• children's self-esteem and independence
• love of learning
• awareness of God's love for them as special, unique individuals
• kindergarten readiness

Our Approach:

HFCS is proud to have a team of excellent, highly-experienced teachers certified in early childhood education.  Our teachers and aides are dedicated to teaching, nurturing, engaging, and caring for our preschoolers. 

In alignment with our K-8 Continuous Growth Approach, our preschool program embraces whole-child development. Our curriculum addresses academic, social-emotional, and religious growth. Based on the topics and lessons, children learn and practice new skills as a whole class, in small groups, with learning partners, and individually.  Please see below for some highlights of our program.
 

Plum Campus

All highlights listed below are encompassed.  Additionally, at our Plum Campus, we feature:

• B.E.A.R Time: The Be Excited About Reading library program, an ongoing system that tracks the books each child reads and incorporates positive reinforcement for reading often
• Spanish:  Our 4-year-old and transitional kindergarten preschool students have Spanish class weekly.

Oakmont & Plum Campus
 

• Literacy:
  • Letter/Sound Awareness: Letter recognition, phonetics, and writing
  • Language Development: Rhyming, sequencing, and reading among genres
  • Daily reading, with crafts and activities centered around story topics and themes.
  • Read Across America 
  • B.E.A.R. TIME – Be Excited About Reading monthly library program (Plum Campus)
• Mathematics:
  • Number Awareness: Number recognition, math application discussions, counting, one-to-one correspondence, and writing numbers
  • Pre-Math Skills: Graphing and patterning
• STEAM:
  • Exploration, sensory play, crafts, and activities focus on connections among science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics in daily life and the world around us
  • STEAM Learning Centers and Maker Spaces in each classroom
• Religious, Moral, & Social Development:
  • Positive concepts about themselves and their families, friends, environment, and church and school community (We utilize the "I Am Special" Religion Series as a framework.)
  • Constructive life skills centered around respect for self and others, sharing, listening, helping others, using manners, demonstrating gratitude and care, and more.
• Life Skills, Prayer, and Patriotism:
  • Morning circle time includes prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, jobs for the day, calendar, weather, feelings, songs, finger plays, and review/preview of academic concepts.
• Physical Education / Gym Class
• Music Class
