Students in grades 4-8 may participate in an election and the school student council. Student council works for the betterment of HFCS and its students. Each year, a representative is elected to represent each grade level, as well as a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Students in grades 2 - 8 have the opportunity to vote in order to elect the students they feel will best represent them in their Student Government.
HFCS is committed to maintaining a strong student government comprised of Student Council members. At Holy Family, we believe that student governments offer many benefits:
Student Representation: They provide students with a platform to voice their opinions and concerns, ensuring their perspectives are considered in school decision-making.
Leadership Development: Student leaders gain valuable leadership skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Community Engagement: They foster a sense of community and school spirit by organizing events, activities, and service projects that bring students together.
Responsibility and Accountability: Students learn to manage budgets, plan events, and take responsibility for their actions, promoting accountability.
Advocacy and Change: Student governments can advocate for changes and improvements in school policies, facilities, and programs.
Personal Growth: Participation can boost self-confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of responsibility, helping students grow as individuals.
Networking: Students have the opportunity to connect with peers, teachers, and administrators, building relationships that can benefit them in the future.
Inclusivity: They promote inclusivity and diversity by representing a wide range of student interests and backgrounds.
Preparation for Civic Engagement: Involvement in student government can prepare students for future civic engagement and responsible citizenship.
Fun and Engagement: They organize fun and engaging activities that enhance the overall school experience and create lasting memories.
A huge thank you goes to Mrs. Vania Glenwright, M.S.Ed., who continues to oversee and advise our Student Council members, helping to develop moral leadership centered around Christ and anchored by our faith.
"Behind every successful student council, there stands a dedicated advisor, shaping leaders, nurturing voices, and igniting the flames of positive change."
